3 Tips for choosing the right location for your Texas engagement session

One of the most exciting events leading up to your upcoming wedding is your engagement photos! These photos highlight your love up to this point and will hang on your walls right along side all of your wedding photos. When thinking about the vibe you want your photos to elicit, location is everything! Here are 3 tips for choosing the right location for your Texas engagement session.

1) Choose a location that holds meaning to you. Do you live the western lifestyle and own horses? Do you love the outdoors? Do you live in an urban area and prefer the scene of building landscapes? Do you love spending time together on your own property or maybe family property? Choose a location that mirrors your interests and personalities. Some of my favorite engagements sessions were taken in locations that held meaning for my couples, such as family ranches, favorite hiking spots, first home together.

2) Consider the weather. As we all know, the weather in Texas can change drastically. Do you love the fall look with fall leaves and if we're honest, dead grass? Do you love spring flowers and greenery? If you love greenery and trees and live local to Lubbock, you may want to choose a local park or wait until late spring, early summer. If you're in other areas of Texas, perhaps central Texas or East Texas may be the look you're going for.

3) What colors align with your home decor? These photos will be hanging on your wall. You want to choose colors that will look good with your other decor. Do you love warm/neutral tones? If so, you may consider an open field in West Texas or canyons in the Texas Panhandle. Do you love colorful greenery? If so you may consider a central or East Texas location.

If you have a certain vibe in mind for your engagement photos, location is everything. Share your ideas with your photographer if you need help deciding!
